Privacy Policy

Last updated October 18, 2026

AutoLingo LLC ("AutoLingo", "we") makes the Athena OBD app and sells the adapter it works with at athenaobd.app. This policy says what personal information we collect through the website and the app, why, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.

The short version

  • We collect what we need to sell you an adapter and ship it: your email address, name and shipping address.
  • Your card details go to Stripe, our payment processor; we never see or store them.
  • Your car's codes and data stay on your phone. The app has no accounts, analytics or advertising. It sends us crash reports, with nothing that identifies you, and its log only when you tap "Send the log" for help.
  • We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

What we collect on the website, and why

  • Your email address, if you sign up for news (we email a link to confirm it first) or order. We use it for your receipt and shipping updates, and for news only if you asked for it. Every news email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Your name, shipping address and, if you give it, your phone number, to ship your order. The phone number is only for the carrier.
  • Your order: what you ordered, the amounts and sales tax, and when it was paid and shipped.
  • Your messages to support, by email, through the form on our support page or from the app: your email address, what you write and anything you attach. We first email you a link to confirm the address is yours, then keep the conversation to help you. After we close your request we may email you once to ask how we did.
  • Security records: our servers log your IP address with the pages you request, to keep the site working and to stop abuse.

What the app sends, and why

The app keeps your car's codes, readings and reports on your phone. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking. It sends us two things.

Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry, our crash-reporting service: the error and where in the app it happened, the app's version, your phone's model and system version, and the app's own steps just before (the screens opened and buttons tapped, without what was on them). Reports carry no name, account, email address, IP address, location, screenshot or ID for you or your phone, and a VIN in an error is hidden. We use them only to fix the app; Sentry keeps them for 30 days.

The app's log, only when you tap Send the log in its settings, to get help or report a problem:

  • The app's log of its last two sessions: the steps it took, the commands it sent the adapter and your car's answers (which include your car's VIN and its fault codes).
  • The app's version, and your phone's model and system version.
  • Your email address and message, only if you type them, so support can answer you.

We use these only to help you and to fix problems in the app. We keep the log for 90 days, then delete it.

Who we share it with

  • Stripe processes payments and works out sales tax. It receives your card details (directly from you, on the payment form), your email address and your shipping address. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • EasyPost, our shipping service, receives your shipping address (and your name and phone number once you order) to price the shipping and print the label. See EasyPost's privacy policy.
  • Anthropic (in the United States) receives your support messages, with your orders and the app's log if you sent one, so its AI (Claude) can suggest a reply. A person on our team reads and edits every reply before it's sent. Anthropic doesn't use this data to train its models. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
  • Sentry (in the United States) receives the app's crash reports described above, to store them for us. See Sentry's privacy policy.
  • USPS receives your name, shipping address and phone number, to deliver your order.

Cookies

The site sets one cookie that protects its forms from forgery. The payment page loads Stripe's script, which sets Stripe's own cookies to prevent fraud.

How long we keep it

Orders are kept as long as the law requires for tax records. A news sign-up is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Logs sent from the app, and emails we've sent, are deleted from our systems after 90 days. Support conversations are deleted two years after they're closed, and a message waiting for its address to be confirmed after 14 days.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information by emailing support@athenaobd.app. California residents have these rights under the CCPA; we don't sell or share personal information for advertising.

Children

Athena OBD isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it here with a new date, and email you if the change matters to you.
